I have no idea what the hell is wrong with me. I completely exploded on Caleb for no reason other than him simply asking what was wrong. The entire night probably would’ve turned out differently if I just opened up and talked to him, but it’s such a long story. Frankly, I don’t even care to talk about it. I want to forget that my dad even exists and move on with my life. Maybe I should change my number again? No, that never works. Mom will just give it to him. Again. I get that she and my dad had this incredible love once upon a time, but that doesn’t excuse his shitty parenting. I love my mom and she deserves the best, but I hate how she stands up for him. In reality, he’s nothing more than a glorified sperm donor. From what she’s said, he only acted like my dad for the first two years of my life. I’m just over the whole situation. And now he’s messing with Caleb's and my relationship. Well, it’s not a relationship exactly. I’m really not sure what it is, but either way, my dad is finding a way to interfere.

I haven’t apologized to Caleb even though I know I should. I’ve spent all morning thinking about it, but every time I go to text him, I can’t find the right words. I mean, what do I say? Sorry for being such a bitch? Sorry for having major daddy issues? I mentally roll my eyes at my own thoughts.

“Something to add, Ms. Bardot?” my professor asks.

Oh my God, I actually rolled my eyes and the professor saw. Crap.

“No. Everything’s great.”

I smile to diffuse the tension, but she still gives me the stink eye. This time I make sure she isn’t looking when I roll my eyes.

“All right, we only have about twenty minutes left, so let’s—”

The door is swung open loud enough it crashes into the wall and everyone’s head turns to see who it is. My eyes widen in horror as Caleb, Jace, and some other guy I recognize from the hockey team come running in. Caleb darts behind the professor's desk and crouches down to hide. Jace goes in between the filing cabinet and the wall. The other guy runs to the back and hides behind some students.

“What is going on?” the professor practically shouts.

Caleb holds his finger to his mouth. “Shh. It’s called hide and seek. Not hide and tell everyone where you are.”

“Well, this is—”

Everyone starts laughing at the guys. Some of the girls start whispering when they recognize who these idiots are. I stare at Caleb with a look that says What in the hell are you doing? He just smiles and winks at me like the jackass he is. Buzz comes barreling in the classroom and all eyes instantly go to him. Buzz sees Caleb first and goes for him, but Caleb jumps up, and to my horror, runs toward me.

He jumps behind me, placing his hands on my shoulders as Buzz approaches.
